found this informative, about how studios are going to attempt to use influencers (particularly small ones) to try to cross pickets by paying a lot for movie promos, and that SAG-AFTRA likely will not let you in if you do this. my suspicion is they’re hoping people won’t understand the implications so wanted to spread the word!!

PROMOTION is part of an actor’s job. And it’s one of the things they’re not allowed to do on strike.
SAG Actors are not allowed to do promotions at ComicCon this year. They can attend, as long as they don’t:
Participate in specific-show promotions (e.g. “five years later - actors of X series”)
Talk about their current work
Talk about upcoming work
They are encouraged not to attend at all, in part because those are complex issues and it’s easy to trip on them.
TikTok and YouTube INFLUENCERS are likely to be contacted by studios and told, “how would you like to make a LOT of money, talking about this show?”
…Do not take the poisoned bait.
That counts as crossing the picket line, and would result in:
Being banned from SAG-AFTRA membership for life, and
Possibly being blocked from other union jobs if they find out that you scabbed during a strike.

the heat of the fire draws air straight up from the center over the fire. This draws the air in from the sides in a circle around the fire creating an air current, which means air is being blown toward the fire from all sides. When you sit on one side of the fire, it blocks some of the air moving toward the fire from that side. Now there is more air being blown toward the fire from the side opposite you. This pushes the smoke your direction. When you move to the other side, it just makes the same thing happen over there. The smoke actually literally does follow you around no matter where you sit. Because physics.

so SAG-AFTRA finally released some official guidance for fans, viewers, creators/influencers, critics, and more during the strike. here’s what you need to know:
if you see a publication/news source/journalist talking about a piece of struck work, that’s ok. they’re allowed to do that.
2. they’re asking regular viewers and fans to DONATE TO STRIKE FUNDS, SHOW UP TO PICKETS IF YOU CAN, and please do NOT boycott streaming services or movies in theaters.
3. influencers, content creators, cosplayers, and anything in between is still a bit of a grey area, but they’re asking people to use their best judgement. “organically” means UNPAID promo (like an invite to a premiere without being paid, being sent a publicity box, letting the company’s social media post a photo of you in cosplay, etc).
obviously this doesn’t answer every question, and isn’t hard and fast rules for fanworks, but it can at least inform how you personally choose to move forward when posting online and moving publically. i hope this helps!

As we now know, Tumblr is $30 million dollars in debt. Oops. Tumblr has announced some major (and unpopular) changes to the site in their attempt to get back above water. The alternative is that Tumblr ceases to exist. But maybe we can change that…

And they, the studios and streaming services, want you to forget that their profit hoarding is the problem. They’re the reason this is happening, not the writers and actors.
You can’t see that movie you wanted because a studio is clutching a fistful of nickels. They can afford to pay writers and actors–large collectives of not-famous workers–something even a little bit closer to fairly. But they are determined not to, with the cruelest resolve. An unnamed executive said, and I quote exactly this time, “The endgame is to allow things to drag on until [writers’] union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses.”
